25 Days of Harvest Moon
Day Five: Rain
The worst part of being a farmer, Jill came to understand, was that there were no days off from the job. You were expected to wake up every morning, water the crops, take care of the animals, and do any other chores that were required to be done. Skipping any days were crucial. Whether or not her health was a factor in such an equation, it sure did take up only a small fraction. However, no matter how impossible, Jill always begged her uncle for at least one day off, but he would ignore her like he didn’t care for her wellbeing.
Neither did the weather it seemed, with how hard it poured that following week.
Completely drenched from the rain, Jill ran for cover inside the barn. She could hear Bell causing a ruckus, most likely throwing a fit because the weather didn’t allow her to be outside. Jill could only rid herself of her soggy gloves and sneakers, hoping it would dispel the sudden chills that were creeping up her spine.
“I really hate the rain.” she finally muttered.
